Qualifications Scotland Assessor Training

Qualifications Scotland Assessor training and certification ensures that an organization’s assessors are experienced subject matter experts, and that they use standard assessment techniques required by a recognized awarding body such as Qualifications Scotland.

The assessment of employees at the workplace is a critical component of an organization’s competency management process. The many benefits of Qualifications Scotland Assessor qualification include the following:

• Ensures assessors are internationally recognized and accepted by industry bodies such as OPITO.
• Provides certification of competence for those involved in assessing learners undertaking National and International endorsed qualifications or similar competence-based training programs including Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs), National Qualifications Authority (NQA), and International Vocational Qualification.
• Enables assessors to be recognized as qualified and competent workplace assessors.
• Ensures assessors will meet Qualifications Scotland standards.
• Adds credibility to a company’s competency management system and assessment process.
• Demonstrates to a company’s clients and auditors that its assessors are competent.

IHRDC as an official Qualifications Scotland Approved Centre can train and issue Qualifications Scotland qualifications for assessors and internal verifiers for clients involved in competency assessments.

IHRDC’s virtual Qualifications Scotland assessor training and support in portfolio preparation enables assessor candidates to gain internationally recognized Assessor Qualification through the Qualifications Scotland. The assessor training program engages the participants through a blended learning experience including online learning modules, theory, interactive discussions and hands-on exercises. The online learning modules will provide participants with an understanding of the assessment process including the key areas of focus, assessment tools, and assessment methods. An appointed and suitably qualified IHRDC mentor will help participants progress through the online modules, answer their questions, help in portfolio preparation, and assess the assessor candidates to ensure the candidates are able to conduct impartial, consistent and thorough assessments.

The Qualifications Scotland Assessor training and certification program includes:

• One-hour virtual induction to the program
• Access to our Qualified Assessor online learning modules
• Weekly, one-hour support sessions for the group for 12 weeks
• Assessment of assessor candidate portfolio by qualified assessor
• Internal verification of assessment result
• Assessor candidate result and portfolio submission to Qualifications Scotland
• Qualifications Scotland Assessor Qualification for successful candidates

Upon completion, assessor candidates will be familiar with the following:

• Competence and standards
• The role of an assessor
• The assessment process
• Assessment methods and methodology
• The role of an assessor candidate
• Evidence requirements to be met by the assessor candidate
• Procedures for achieving the L&D9DI Assessor award

At the end of training and coaching, the candidates will have the skill set to effectively run and manage assessments and, upon successful completion of assessments, candidates will receive the appropriate certification of their achievements.

Note: IHRDC is providing the training, tools and resources required to achieve the Qualifications Scotland Assessor Qualification; however, enrollment in the program does not guarantee the successful completion of a qualification by the participant. This program requires active involvement by the participant and a significant amount of work outside the formal virtual classroom including the completion of two assessments and the development of the assessment portfolio. We estimate that this process will require 20 hours of work in addition to the virtual program to complete the assessments and develop the portfolio. A minimum of 10 enrollments are needed for this course to run.
