Laura B. Varela joined IHRDC in 2007 to participate in the development of e-Learning programs, as well as the design and facilitation of in-person management programs, supporting key corporate processes. With 15 years of experience at the Venezuelan Oil Company (PDVSA), she began her career as a field engineer before transitioning to work with NGL plants in western Venezuela. She led a team of professionals in developing, monitoring, and optimizing technology and operational systems to measure and assess gas throughout the entire value chain—from production to final distribution for domestic, industrial, and commercial use. Her expertise extends to research and development of materials for oil and gas programs, as well as energy transition initiatives. A seasoned facilitator, she has contributed to the design and delivery of learning and development programs across Europe, Africa, Asia, the USA, and Latin America. Laura is an Industrial Engineer and holds an M.S. degree in Oil and Gas Production.
