Dean Mento

Dean Mento is the Geophysics Discipline Manager for the Innovation and Development Group at IHRDC. His career has spanned over 28 years as a geophysicist, mainly with Amoco and as Chief Technical Advisor and competency assessor for Halliburton/Landmark Graphics. Dean has developed extensive technical training collateral, including award winning e-learning and documentation for numerous software products and has taught software classes and consulted to in-house company and external clients around the globe. He was the committee chair in developing the geophysical competency system for the SEG and has served on the EVOLVE and the Professional Development Portfolio committees. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Knox College and a M.S. in geology from Northern Illinois University. While a graduate student at Northern, he participated in two geophysical expeditions to Antarctica, spending six weeks shooting 2D seismic on the Ross Ice Shelf. He is a Texas Licensed Professional Geoscientist (Geophysics), a member of the AAPG (since 1982), SEG and the Houston Geological Society.
